Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava performed the song “Naatu Naatu” from RRR tonight at the 95th Academy Awards. The two sang the song live while more than two dozen actors replicated the film’s dance segment in period costume. Sipligunj, Bhairava and MM Keeravani’s song is nominated for Best Original Song. “Naatu Naatu” won the Golden Globe for Best Original Song earlier this year. The song is nominated for an Oscar tonight along with Rihanna’s “Lift Me Up” (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever); “This Is a Life” by Son Lux, Mitski and David Byrne (Everything everywhere at once); Diane Warren’s “Applause”; and Lady Gaga for “Hold My Hand” (Top Gun: Maverick).
