The National Share Video for New Song “Eucalyptus”: Watch

The National have shared another new song from their upcoming album, The first two pages of Frankenstein. “Eucalyptus” comes with a music video directed by Chris Sgroi. The image was filmed at Long Pond by Sgroi and Matt Berninger’s brother Tom. Watch it below.

In a press release, Matt Berninger said of the new single: “’Eucalyptus’ is about a couple dividing up their possessions after a breakup, like, ‘What are we going to do with the spring water we get? What is going to happen? to all these plants?’ It’s about all those little things that you end up having to think about when you connect so much with someone.”

The first two pages of Frankenstein is the band’s ninth studio album. The National has previously featured the singles “New Order T-Shirt” and “Tropic Morning News,” which he co-wrote with lead singer Matt Berninger’s wife, Carin Besser. The band recently performed the latest song on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The new LP arrives April 28 and features guest contributions from Taylor Swift, Sufjan Stevens, and Phoebe Bridgers.

The National will embark on a lengthy tour in support of the album this spring, touring North America and Europe. The band will continue to tour until October. Starters throughout the career include Patti Smith, Soccer Mommy, Beths, and Bartees Strange.
