Talking Heads’ Stop Making Sense to Get Restored and Re-Released by A24

Talking Heads’ inimitable 1984 concert film, stop making sense, will be restored in 4K and re-released in theaters by A24, Deadline reports. In a fun teaser video to accompany the news, David Byrne heads to the cleaners to pick up his oversized signature suit from the film. He looks below.

In addition to the theatrical re-release, a deluxe edition of the stop making sense The soundtrack is due out on vinyl and digitally on August 18, according to Deadline. The reissue, courtesy of Rhino, will include the full version stop making sense concert.

stop making senseDirected by the late Jonathan Demme, it was shot over three nights at Hollywood’s Pantages Theater in December 1983. The film was added to the National Film Registry in 2021.

David Byrne contributed “This Is a Life” to the A24 soundtrack Everything everywhere at once. She performed the song with Son Lux and one of the film’s stars, Stephanie Hsu, at the 2023 Academy Awards.
