Rahul Sipligunj, Kaala Bhairava and MM Keeravani have won Best Original Song for “Naatu Naatu” from RRR at the 95th Academy Awards. It’s his first Oscar win, and follows his recent Golden Globe trophy in the same category. The song got a spectacular performance early in the broadcast.
They beat Rihanna for “Lift Me Up” (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever); Son Lux with Mitski and David Byrne for “This Is a Life” (Everything everywhere at once); Sofia Carson for “Applause” (say it like a woman); and Lady Gaga for “Hold My Hand” (Top Gun: Maverick).
This year, the Academy Awards is airing all 24 categories on air. This decision follows controversy last year when they removed eight categories from the 2022 Oscars livestream. Many industry insiders said the move downplayed the creative accomplishments of certain departments that are responsible for a film’s success, including filmmaking. original score, editing and make-up and hairdressing.
