Gorillaz have shared a new song called “Crocadillaz” with Dawn Penn and De La Soul, which includes a verse by the late Trugoy the Dove. it appears in Cracker Island (Deluxe), the latest version of the band’s new album. Other new features include Del The Funky Homosapien (“Captain Chicken”) and MC Bin Laden (“Controllah”). Check out “Crocadillaz” below.
Trugoy the Dove died earlier this month at age 54. He won a Grammy for his contributions to Gorillaz’s 2005 single “Feel Good Inc.” De La Soul announced a celebration at Webster Hall in New York City dubbed “The DAISY Experience”. Scheduled for March 2, the event is produced by Amazon Music and aims to pay tribute to Trugoy and De La Soul, featuring artwork from the group’s debut album. 3 feet tall and rising and a DJ set by the Originals (Stretch Armstrong, Rich Medina and Tony Touch). The Amazon Music channel in twitch is scheduled to broadcast live a series of interviews with friends of De La Soul and special guests that evening.
Gorillaz frontman Damon Albarn recently announced that the animated feature being developed about the cartoon band is now in limbo after Netflix dropped the project.
