Kali Uchis: Red Moon on Venus [Geffen]

Kali Uchis has described her new album as “a timeless and fiery expression of desire, anguish, faith and honesty, reflecting the divine femininity of the moon and Venus.” It includes the lead single “I Wish You Roses”, which, according to Pitchfork’s Isabelia Herrera, evokes “the ethereal litheness of soul legend Minnie Riperton, but also the gravelly, wailing melancholy of jazz titan Sarah Vaughan.” She read Herrera’s profile, “Welcome to Kali Uchis’s tall woman fantasy.”
